Welcome to our new blog. We are posting this blog so that our family, friends, and others may follow along with us on our adventures as we travel around the US. This trip will be an extended one circling the larger part of the Western US and will be all new territory for us. We are very excited and anxious to get started. We have a route and destinations planned for the trip, but I'm sure we will add to and take away from it as the adventure moves along. The planned trip distance is about 9,000 miles and will take us through 22 states and estimate will take 3 to 4 months to complete. We normally try to limit our daily distance to around 250 miles, and overnight in campgrounds along our route. If we find unplanned attractions in that area, we may extend an extra day or two, so we normally do not make advance reservations. We pretty much "fly by the seat of our pants"! Below is a map of the planned route. The red push pins are planned stops and destinations. You can enlarge the map by clicking on it, and to return to the blog, click the X in the upper right hand corner. This will be same for pictures that will be included in the blog. This is a somewhat ambitious trip and we are very excited but also have some apprehension about being gone from our family and friends so long, but feel like this is an adventure of a lifetime. So sit back, buckle up and hang on as we start our journey!
Can't wait to follow your adventure. And learn places we might want to travel! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThanks Becky, I didn't intend for the blog to go live when it did. We're leaving 7-14, so keep an eye out for us.
DeleteWow, we will be following you for sure; this is a trip we would love to take one day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mills, We're not pulling out until 7-14, so keep an eye out for us.
DeleteYou are really on a roadtrip! Enjoy and be safe! We connected to you via The Bayfield Bunch and will be following your travels. Looks like you will be close to us (Hannibal, MO)/Quincy, IL). Give us a shout out when you get in the area...maybe we can meet. Our driveway is open for some "driveway overnighter" -- water and electricity available! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lady Dyna, We're leaving NC on 7-14 so keep an eye out for us. Thanks also for the offer, we'll keep you in mind.
DeleteThats a lot of miles in only four months. We have only been out for three and have only gone 1600 miles and still feel we have missed lots. Gotta stop and snell the roses along the way. I will be following.
ReplyDeleteThanks Merikay, I've been following your blog for at least a year, so I feel like I know you! You're right about the miles, it is a lot. We'll just have to see how it goes and adjust. We definitely like to smell the roses too!
